Dental office COVID-19 Infection Control

The COVID-19 disease is continuing to spread all across the world, infecting millions of people. The disease spreads through respiratory droplets and can live on surfaces. To safeguard our patients and our staff from COVID-19 and to ensure a safe environment, our dental office has implemented certain procedures and protocols as per the guidelines of the CDC. We always stay up to date with the latest COVID-19 healthcare information, guidelines, and standards and ensure to implement them in our dental office. Here are the COVID-19 transmission prevention protocols we have implemented at Fear Free Dental. 

Everyone who enters our dental office, including our dentists, staff, and patients, is pre-screened for COVID-19 as per the ADA (American Dental Association) Patient Screening Form. We also perform a compulsory temperature check for everyone and strictly restrict the admission of anyone who possesses a potential transmission risk.

We ensure to stay up to date with industry cleaning and disinfection standards. We use BIO SURF spray - one of the highest-rated cleaning and disinfection sprays in its class, known for its highly disinfectant properties in heavy blood and protein environments. We properly clean and sanitize all areas in our dental practice, including operatories, waiting rooms, and bathrooms, to ensure minimal or no transmission exposure. 

We have made it mandatory that everyone in our dental office ALWAYS wears a mask or personal protective equipment unless sitting in the dental chair for dental procedures.

We request our patients to postpone their appointments to another date if they feel unwell. Our clinicians and staff also stay home if they are not in good health. This precautionary measure is to prevent any risk of COVID-19 transmission. We apologize for any inconvenience; however, we feel it's our obligation to ensure a safe environment for anyone visiting our dental office. 

At Fear Free Dental, we have implemented the HVAC Aerosol Extraction System that extracts and eliminates harmful aerosols in hygiene rooms, thus limiting the risk for exposure and transmission. 

In duct irradiation systems, we place UV lamps inside ducts to eliminate air from rooms and disinfect and sterilize it before it is recirculated. 

We use the Ozone HVAC ventilation system in the hygiene rooms at our practice. It cleans the air in the operatories and eliminates any potentially harmful aerosols and viruses from the air.  

HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air. HEPA filtration consists of a specific type of air filter that can remove at least 99.97% of particles 0.3 micrometers or larger from the air. This is far more effective than a standard air filter.

Negative pressure rooms are rooms that are designed to have negative air pressure relative to surrounding areas. This negative air pressure helps to prevent the spread of airborne contaminants. These rooms can be used for any procedure that exposes the body to contaminants. In our building, the air is recirculated every 27 minutes, letting clean air to be spread into the building from the UV irradiated air duct systems.
